2016.10.06 - Latches and Slats
Only a brief update today since although I still manages d 2-hour stint this evening, I'm not going to bore you with the minute details.
So, the latches on the poop deck were installed which now means that the various parts can be glued in place and the temporary screws replaced with the correct ones.
Here are the two port side latches in place.
And this is what the starboard ones look like from the underside with the poop deck in place. This task did require a fair bit of lying down on my back a the aft end of the boat to get the positioning of the battens correct.
The other thing that got done today was the port side bunk slats as you can see here. That looks good and it is very sturdy. Tomorrow's task, or one of them is to completed the starboard side and the forward two as well. I hope to make the seat frame and slats as well as part of the weekend's task. If nothing goes wrong I may get that all done in one day, but we shall see.
Whilst I am very eager to get on with as much as I can, my to-do list is not short, I have to resist the temptation to push on with just one more task and run the risk of making mistakes. I am, however, very pleased at the way the project is progressing at the moment.
